Two LCD projectors (one time cost) and statistical software license renewals (3 years) are requested for the Psychology Department Computer Labs. The two labs (PH204&PH205) house approximately 20 computers each. These labs are utilized by students and faculty for a variety of course related laboratory sections. These include Research Methods, Statistics and others (approximately 20-25 course sections). There are open lab hours (20). About 500 students per semester make use of the facilities. The projectors would allow instructors to demonstrate the usage of the statistical and research methods software. The projectors will also enable experimenters (students in Research Methods as well as those involved in individual research, under faculty supervision) to project research materials to 20 subjects, while data is collected. Funding of the projectors will complete the process, started 6 years ago, needed to provide a complete laboratory setting. The statistical software license renewals (SAS and SPSS) are a necessary and crucial part of the functioning of the labs. Funds beyond those from the Dean's TAF allocation are required to fully maintain function and to provide the incresed use that the laboratories have seen in the last several years. These costs have become difficult for the department to bear even with the Dean's TAF funds.
