The equipment in this proposal is required by the Forensic Institute for Research and Education to update an existing master classroom. The laptops are needed to run SceneVision viewer software that is used as part of the forensic anthropology minor. Forensic Sciences 3660 (30 students) and Forensic Anthropology 3650 (30 students) use SceneVision and FORDISC during classroom presentations to provide a hands-on EXL experience. WPS 103 is used during the application portion of classwork done in conjunction with WPS 102 and PH 318. SceneVision is also used in death investigation training and CSI:MTSU, FIRE’s forensic summer youth camp. The desktop is needed in WPS 103 to run the SceneVision creation software. Current PCs are running Windows 7 software, which will no longer be supported through ITD and are unable to be upgraded to Windows 10 software. Swipe card access to WPS 103 is necessary to maintain security and chair-of-custody essential for forensic analyses that may be adjudicated in a court of law.
