The Maintenance Management curriculum is accredited by the Aviation Accreditation Board International (AABI), and during the last agency review cycle several equipment improvements were recommended. The department’s largest and most obvious maintenance training aircraft, a retired Federal Express Boeing 727, has reached its serviceable life as a teaching aid, as its 50 year old analog instrumentation and systems are obsolete. In place of the 727 aircraft, the Maintenance Management program is proposing several new training aids to meet AABI recommendations and to modernize multiple courses: AERO’s 2342, 4310, 4311, 4312, 4332, 4342, 4371, 4381 and 4392 (approximately 300 students/year cycle through these courses). The variety of equipment requested presents flexibility to teach core curriculums reflective of the technical advances happening across the aerospace industry. It will also help the Maintenance Management program remain a national leader in collegiate aerospace education.
