Ann Campbell Early (ACE) Learning Center and the Child Development Center (CDC) are early learning programs supported by the College of Education. Each year the programs serve as training sites for more than 300 college of education students as well as students from other disciplines such as speech and language, occupational and physical therapy, nursing, social work, and counseling. We offer hands-on in-classroom training and observation opportunities based on best practices as these students prepare for a career in the field of early childhood education or a related field. The use of our observation booths is critical for students to get an uninterrupted view of the interactions of children with other children as well as with adults. Families also use the booths to learn about their children's development and for their peace of mind. The audio equipment in our observation booths in both programs is in need of replacement. We contacted James Copeland in ITD for an estimate of repairs or replacement. The Fairview building houses the CDC observation booth and one of ACE's classrooms.The CDC booth is used by students to observe both the infant toddler and the preschool classroom which requires the use of sound system and headsets connected to each room to eliminate interrupting sounds from the other classroom. Up to 10 students can be in the booth at one time. The two observation booths at ACE also provide access to two different classrooms and require separate sound systems as well. Funding is based on estimates received by ITD.
