Upgrades to PH 322 will create a film-focused classroom with streaming technology, retro-fitted for older technologies, and improved sound proofing and light reduction. This technology provides direct, curricular support to General Education, English Majors, Minors, Graduate Students, and the interdisciplinary Film Studies Minor. Harp is part of ensemble performances in the School of Music, and is often requested for other campus events, especially events sponsored by the President’s and Provost’s offices. MTSU does not own a harp. Adding a harp to the instrument inventory in the School of Music would provide opportunities for students who are unable to afford and store their own instrument. A new digital lab in Todd 212 dedicated to exploring fusion deposition modeling printing will establish a unique opportunity for faculty/students in the Department of Art and Design (over 350 majors and 240 minors) to access/utilize advanced digital technologies in their curriculum/ portfolio development, position students for post-graduation for employment, and aid in recruitment,. Theatre and Dance Programs need immediate ventilation improvements within BDA production shops to address non-compliance/health/safety issues raised in the NAST Accreditation. The GA40-B studio dance floor has visual damage on the marley with soft spots in the existing sprung floor. Replacement will rectify safety concerns, meet curricular needs, and NASD Accreditation. Two followspots to replace aging lighting equipment in Tucker Theatre, four low-profile speakers to enhance audio for Student Success Series and Center Stage productions in the Anderson Studio, and upgrading musical accompaniment technology will improve student opportunities, experiences, and events.
