The James E. Walker Library at MTSU is the intellectual center for MTSU students and reflects the university's commitment to education and research. Walker Library is the largest open computer lab on campus and open for a total of 111 hours weekly during the academic year. The library had 489,825 visits from users and 137,974 logins from January through December 2022. We currently offer 85 laptops for circulation—30 are available for 3-days and another 55 are available for two weeks. From September through December of 2022, we checked out laptops 913 times with 312 renewals. As of January 25, 2023, all available 2-week laptops are checked out. We are requesting an additional 10 laptops for circulation. Experiential learning remains a top priority for the university, and we have identified equipment that supports 3D computing and 3D design activities. From August through November 2022, the printers were used 4,409 times and students used the AR/VR computers 2,142 times. We are requesting two 43” LCD monitors to upgrade those that we currently have in our Practice/Presentation room. We are requesting 50 JAMF licenses to manage the library’s Mac computers remotely. We are requesting 30 desktop power edge strips to enhance our open computing and to make power more accessible to users with laptops and other mobile devices. We are requesting 10 additional scientific calculators to support an active lending program. We have requested a Network-ready charging cart along with 30 ethernet adapters and 10 additional laptop chargers for circulation to students.
