The Department of Accounting (DOA) proposes upgrading a Master Classroom that is currently outfitted with outdated computers and old technology. The classroom is currently used by multiple departments to host courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. An estimated 300-500 students utilize the classroom in a given academic year. The proposed technology solution, detailed below, will provide students with the necessary tools and resources to enhance their learning experience and increase engagement in the classroom. Specifics: • Provide the classroom with new computers that are equipped with modern hardware and software. • Install updated projectors and other classroom equipment, including interactive touch displays, to be used for presentations, group work, and other classroom activities. • Upgrade internet connectivity, if necessary. • Provide training and support to ensure that teachers and students can effectively use the new technology. Lower division, upper division, and graduate level accounting courses are among those delivered in this classroom. Enhanced technology in the classroom will support the DOA’s efforts to meet the technology standard recently adopted by the AACSB. The new A5 technology standard requires accounting programs accredited by AACSB to integrate the teaching of current and emerging technologies across their curriculum; the standard also emphasizes the need to develop students’ and faculty members’ technological agility. By investing in the technology needed for a more dynamic and interactive learning environment, we will enable technology in our curriculum to evolve alongside practice and, in doing so, will better prepare students for careers in an ever-changing profession.
