As one of the largest unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) experiential learning programs in the US, UAS Operations and UAS Technology concentrations are committed to providing world-class training to our learners. To give our learners the necessary knowledge and skills to compete in the UAS marketplace, learners need to acquire actual flight experience using the latest technology. This proposal supports UAS majors (55 AY 23-24) and minors (14 AY 23-24) in EXL courses AERO 3711, 3721, 3731, 4701 and 4710. Equipment in this proposal will not only provide world-class training to our learners, but also provide research and collaborative opportunities with internal and external partners. Blue list and NDAA drones are now required for all federal agencies and federal grants that require UAS. This proposal will provide learners with experience on three blue/NDAA list aircraft systems, Prism Sky, eBee X, and Wingtra. The eBee X and Wingtra include mapping and multispectral sensors that will provide support for Agriculture Department classes and research. The Argras T-40 agricultural drone allows learners to gain aerial application experience in addition to directly supporting the MTSU farm. The UAS program supports campus police in providing aerial overwatch during graduations, football games, and large campus events. Learners gain valuable real-world experience in UAS operations during these events. Learners provide real-time video streamed to various locations on campus. Due to constraints from IT, UAS streaming is limited. The addition of LiveU equipment will allow learners to gain experience streaming video using cellular connections from on-campus and remote locations.
