The College of Behavioral and Health Sciences (CBHS), serving over 3,500 students, is seeking funding to continue its mission of providing exceptional, hands-on education in health-related programs. CBHS contributes significantly to MTSU’s R2 classification by awarding about one-third of doctoral and half of master’s degrees. This proposal aims to address the growing need for professionals with both academic knowledge and practical experience. The requested resources will directly benefit undergraduate and graduate students across several disciplines: • Clinical and School Psychology programs require new assessment kits to maintain ethical standards. • Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology programs need an otoacoustic emission diagnostic tool, discipline-specific software, and dedicated workstations for data collection and analysis. • Exercise Science, Athletic Training, and Physical Education programs request injury simulators and maintenance of a DEXA bone density scanner. • Human Sciences programs, including Interior Design, require industry-specific software, a replacement body scanner, and a new sensory evaluation lab. The proposal also includes a request, across the colleges’ departments, for workstations. These will be used with previously funded equipment/software and will benefit over 1,700 undergraduates and more than 180 graduate students annually. It will also support graduate research, theses, and dissertations in interdisciplinary programs like the Ph.D. in Literacy Studies and M.S. in Data Science. In summary, this proposal represents an investment in the future of healthcare and design professionals, reinforcing our commitment to academic excellence and practical proficiency.
