The Mathematics Education Curriculum Group provides instruction to prepare future teachers of mathematics at the elementary, middle school, and secondary levels. As part of that instruction, we would like for future teachers to experience presenting using similar technology to what they will have access to in area schools. In addition to using smartboards, teachers in area schools use 2 in 1 laptops that function like tablets with smart pens to display instructional information for students. We would like to equip some of the classrooms in the newly remodeled Kirksey Old Main building to mimic this technology set up. Two of the KOM classrooms will already be outfitted with ViewSonic Interactive Flat Panel screens. In addition to these, we are requesting a set of 4 laptops (2 in 1) with smart pens. Our Math Ed courses typically serve approximately 30 secondary future teachers and 175 elementary future teachers each semester across all of the courses we teach.
