The Fashion Studies (FASH) program serves 150 students dedicated to transforming the contemporary Fashion/Apparel industry. The requested equipment addresses essential instructional and laboratory training needs of the program, directly enhancing student learning, applied research, and workforce readiness. To support the FASH program we will utilize our existing computer lab to run specialized design and implementation software (subscription paid from recurring program budget) that integrates with the existing 3D Body Scanner (previously TAF-funded) and the new equipment in this proposal. The new technology (gravity feed irons, vacuum press, cutting table, Accumark cutter, fashion specific lighting package, and cut & sew overhead cameras) will integrate with the 15 new industrial sewing machines (also previously TAF-funded) enabling students to develop industry-standard skills in sewing and creative design. The construction element of this proposal is vital to provide the infrastructure to support the new equipment and to provide a world class creative design environment for our students. This investment will bring the LRC 209 FASH laboratory up to industry design and production standards ensuring that our students train with contemporary discipline-specific technologies that elevate instructional quality and accelerate career preparation.
