The Theatre and Dance Department delivers an in-depth training and co-curricular production program enhanced by regular integration of state of the art technology. Our commitment to progress makes our courses and facilities a place where students of many different career paths want to participate and learn. Along with serving our majors, we have active students from CME, RIM, Music, A&E Design, Fashion, Interior Design, and Studio Arts. We humbly ask for your consideration in funding the following projects: Additional transmitters and mics are necessary to ensure all actors being trained in performance are heard, and students being trained in audio reinforcement are working with reliable gear. Wireless dimming control minimizes cable to set pieces increasing performer safety. Physical training equipment is needed to enhance training and injury prevention in the program and meet NASD standards. Tucker Theatre’s current Grand Piano is no longer a reliable tool for use in musical theatre performance classes and performances set in Tucker Theatre. Higher powered PTZ’s designed to work at the distance and varying light levels of performances and class projects are in needed to provide quality recordings for student portfolios and reels. Maker equipment will allow our students focused in the creation of props, scenery, and costumes to do more intricate design work and expand their knowledge of a modern system for design. Mobile, dynamic, and flexible rehearsal furniture is essential for meaningful instruction in acting and musical theatre courses.
