The Aerospace Maintenance Management program, an FAA Part 147-approved aircraft mechanic training school, requests funding to acquire three critical training devices: 1. Avionics System Trainer AV22, for hands-on instruction and troubleshooting of modern aircraft avionics and IFR systems with fault simulation. 2. Advanced Autopilot System Trainer AV23, for teaching contemporary autopilot subsystems, flight director integration, and diagnostic procedures. 3. PT6A Tear-Down Engines E45, for practical disassembly, inspection, hot-section evaluation, and reassembly of the widely used Pratt & Whitney PT6A turboprop engine. These acquisitions serve two urgent purposes: Expansion of avionics systems training to meet current industry standards and FAA expectations for technician competency in glass-cockpit and digital avionics environments. Replacement of training aids that are more than 30 years old and have exceeded their safe and effective service life. Students will use this equipment extensively in laboratory and practical courses including Avionics Systems, Turbine Engine Maintenance, and Troubleshooting & Repair. The trainers enable realistic fault isolation, component-level work, and engine tear-down/rebuild exercises that directly develop the skills required for FAA Airframe & Powerplant certification. Annual impact: 100 undergraduate students will directly benefit. This figure is based on current full enrollment in the Aerospace Maintenance Management program (approximately 100 students progressing through the multi-semester curriculum each academic year).
