The following models and simulators will be used by all beginning level nursing students in campus labs as preparation for clinical experience. The Decubitus Wound Care Model allows training in wound cleansing, classification, staging, and assessment of pressure ulcers as well as practice in changing dressings. The IM Hip Simulator will allow for a realistic visualization of the dorsogluteal injection site, traditionally a very difficult site for students to visualize. The Intramuscular Injection Simulator will train students to administer intramuscular injections at different injection sites offering both visual and tactile learning. Intramuscular injection pads will be additional aids to allow students to practice the administration of injections. The Male and Female Catheterization Simulators allows the student the opportunity to practice the insertion of urinary catheters. These are replacement simulators of ones that were purchased during the associate degree program. The SON is also requesting videos that are specific for our pediatrics course, a set of CD-ROMs specific for the obstetrics course, and another set of CD-ROMs specific for the psychiatric course.
