Install 4 Wenger V-technology practice rooms on the 3rd floor of Saunders Fine Arts in an area that will eventually become a bank of 7 V-practice rooms as funding is approved. One of the proposed rooms is an ensemble practice room and the other 3 would be individual practice rooms. Project will include site preparation by construction renovation, abatement of floor tile, and installation of HVAC. GIS software will be used by students in the following Geography/Geology courses: Geographic Information Systems, Advanced Geographic Information Systems, Remote Sensing, Cartography, Image Interpretation, Computer/Field Methods in Geology, and Geologic Remote Sensing. All upper division courses, some are also listed for graduate credit. Average annual enrollment in the classes varies between 100 and 150 students, depending on which classes are offered each semester. About 10% of these are graduate students. All items requested are licensing, upgrades and support for the following GIS/Remote Sensing software: ARCGIS from Environmental Systems Research Institute and ERDAS Imagine from Leica Geosystems. This software is required to continue operation of our GIS and Remote Sensing classes and labs and the licenses must be renewed annually. No Departmental or Institutional funding set aside for this software—without our labs cannot function.
