The equipment requested will greatly enhance the experiential learning, each semester, of well over 2000 undergraduates from a variety of departments (General Education requirements) as well as the Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Safety (HPERS) department. Over 150 graduate students in the Master's and Ph.D. programs in the HPERS department, as well as other departments, will also be directly impacted by the use of this technology in their various classes each semester. By the HPERS department having and using state of the art technology in our classes, we are meeting the Academic Master Plan's goal of "a student centered learning environment." The undergraduate student can use this equipment to gain actual hands on technological experiences in order to continue to satisfy accreditation proficiencies, such as for the National Athletic Training Association (NATA), the Society for Public Health Education /American Association for Health Education, Baccalaureate Program Approval Committee (SABPAC), National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education/National Association for Sport and Physical Education (NCATE/NASPE), National Recreation and Parks Association (NRPA), and standards for the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). A portion of this equipment is necessary for the HPERS department to meet federal law requirements for accessibility to the pool. Graduate students can use this equipment for experiential learning, and for thesis/dissertation research which would further the productivity of the graduates in publications, presentations, and research projects.
