In the summer of 2005 previously scheduled renovations will begin to increase the Computer Lab from 33 computers to 50 computers. Currently the SON has 1233 undergraduate majors, 445 of whom are in their junior and senior years and 73 MSN-RODP graduate students. There are approximately 250-275 student visits per week to the Open Computer Lab which includes students from other disciplines at MTSU. The Computer Lab is used by the students to access WEB-CT, e-mail, use course required CAIs, work on projects and papers, and for standardized testing. Thanks to external private and federal funding, the SON will be expanding the existing CNKB building this year. Included in this construction will be the expansion of the Computer Lab. The Computer Lab will continue to be used by the students individually as well as in study groups and for standardized computerized testing. The monies that have been acquired for the building will not be enough to purchase additional computers, printers, and equipment and cover the construction costs. The expansion will increase the amount of available computers by 54 computers. This would facilitate students being able to access computers concurrently while others are using them for standardized testing or WEB-CT testing.
