Students enrolled in elementary and special education classes are required by state and national accrediting agencies to demonstrate their understanding of the role of instructional technology as a teaching tool by its use in classroom settings. Research indicates that two of the primary indicators of effective and continued use of instructional technology by classroom teachers is the modeling of such use by university instructors and its availability for use in pre-service classrooms. Currently Elementary and Special Education has two master classrooms (KOM 104&123). This proposal is to convert KOM 162 to a master classroom. It will provide another classroom in which the approximately 1200 pre-service elementary and special education students can develop, practice, and be provided instruction in not only subject matter, but in the appropriate use of technology to enhance a child’s learning.
