Replacement of Existing Technology

Existing license is only for one year, so subscription must be renewed annually

We are requesting funds for renewing 3 databases/licenses used by accounting students. (All MTSU students would have access to these resources, but I am limiting my discussion to accounting students because of the difficulty quantifying the additional students who will benefit.) First is the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants' database that provides access to all professional accounting and auditing literature. The second is the RIA tax database - it provides access to the Internal Revene Service code, regulations, and court cases. It is important for students to become familiar with using these databases - both are prevalent in practice, and using these databases is a skill now tested on the CPA exam. All accounting majors (app. 500) and MS students (app. 100) will benefit from this software. The third is the MSDN Academic Alliance license - this allows us to install many different MS products on classroom and lab computers, as well as to make free copies of the software to distribute to students. Software from this license is used in several accounting classes, so again, all accounting majors as well as other business students can benefit.
