One of the challenges that the faculty of the School of Nursing (SON) faces is ensuring that the student is exposed to current technology during the learning process and practical experiences in the Skills Lab. This enables the nursing student to provide safe, quality care in the clinical settings and achieve higher performance levels. The SON is requesting additional equipment, videos, and models to address these needs. As a result of the availability of private, federal, and state funds the SON will be expanding the existing building to include constructing another Nursing Skills Lab. Additional funds are needed to procure a clinically simulated lab and supply it with state-of-the-art discipline and audiovisual equipment. The SON is requesting TAF monies to provide 1400 declared undergraduate and graduate nursing students with the tools and equipment needed for learning and acquisition of skills. Each semester the SON has been increasing the generic BSN enrollment. The RN to BSN enrollment has increased to 200 and we have 110 MSN-RODP students declaring MTSU as their home school. This growth is exciting for the SON and according to our Strategic Plan the SON plans to continue to increase enrollment in the future.
