The foreign language lab serves more than 3,000 students enrolled in foreign language courses per year and is open 12 hours a day and six days a week to any student whether enrolled in foreign language courses or not. This proposal asks for funding to continue support of our service: 1) Replacement of disabled student workstation. The only disabled student workstation in our lab was purchased in 2003 with TAF fund and has shown signs of hardware failure. We need the replacement to ensure reliable service for disabled student users in our lab. (The Adaptive Technology Center will furnish the specialized software for disabled student workstation.) 2) Renewal of subscription to DishNetwork International Satellite TV programming service. The service is currently used on a regular basis by our faculty in the teaching of ten foreign languages taught at MTSU. 3) Hardware and software updates to enhance security and maintain functionality. We especially need to replace many broken headphones (bought in 2004) so that students can use them for listening/watching foreign language multimedia materials on the workstations and make audio recordings to complete class assignments. 4) Lab supplies. Those supplies are necessary for us to distribute course-required digital learning materials to students and continue providing free printing.
