University Seminar (UNIV 1010) serves over 2300 first-year students providing an extended orientation to the university, its culture and expectations. Many entering students are not prepared to manage classes that have underlying technological requirements. Faculty members teaching UNIV 1010 try to prepare students to meet the academic standards of the University. One of the learning outcomes of this course is to expose first-year students to the use of technology and to engage them in using technology in information gathering, processing, and distribution. To do so, the course must ideally be taught in a Master Classroom. However, there are no classrooms dedicated to this course. Sections of UNIV 1010 are taught in classrooms after other departments have scheduled their courses. As a result many of the classrooms that remain are completely void of the technology needed to address this course component. The portable master classroom equipment requested in this proposal will allow faculty members teaching in a non-Master Classroom the opportunity to use this equipment in addressing this UNIV 1010 learning outcome.
