The ET department has over 1000 students and is equipment intensive with hands-on experiences part of a vast majority of courses. We have to remain current in equipment and software and also update equipment when necessary. The proposal includes the following descriptions: The HVAC trainer will be used for a required course in HVAC for the Mechanical Engineering Technology major; the microprocessor kits will be serving approximately 70 students enrolled in ET 3650/5650, 4660/5660, 4801, 6260, 5510/6520, and 6910/6920 in the computer and electro-mechanical technology programs; the CIm equipment will serve approximately 160 students in two laboratories; the Rockwell software will serve 14 students in a limited enrollment laboratory twice a year, and the Torchmate Plasma machine will serve studentsin ET 3210, ET 4230, ET 2310 and ET 4700 classes which total about 250 students a year having access. All of the equipment requested represent significant student involvement in accessing and utilizing it to perform hands-on tasks integrated with textbook learning.
