The Studio Theatre provides students with the space to explore theatre at their own pace; under their own creative guidelines. Students produce 10-15 individual productions, allowing them to share their craft with over 3000 students annually. Used daily by students for classes (11) and projects (approx. 40), this creative outlet is essential in their development as artists. Major electrical issues in the facility left the studio with no theatrical lighting system. We ask that a new system be installed. The current configuration of the space is limiting the creative process. The way the concrete risers are configured provides an extremely small acting space, and does not provide any access for handicapped patrons in the audience. Removal of the risers and making the floor flat would provide more options to the students as well as a more meaningful exploratory learning environment. New advances in theatre technologies include the use of theatrical presentation systems in productions. The addition of these systems would allow students to explore technologies as they are being implemented in the professional field. As students explore theatrical practices the ability to add sound effects is critical, thus a sound system is needed.
