This is a request from the College of Mass Communication. The Mobile Production Laboratory in the Electronic Media Communication Department is a signature experiential learning environment for our studendts and outreach for the university. Past service includes producing concerts for the School of Music, athletic events (professional, varsity and intramural)( a class project for football was aired on ESPN 360 last semester), Charitable events -- Ronald McDonald House Telethon (9 times), Jerry Lewis Telethon (3),Special Olympics,Exchange Club's Charlie Daniels Rodeo (11), Nashville Disaster Simulation Drill, Nashville Christmas Parade (10),Mid South Regional Emmy Awards (3), a one hour documentary on the space program including on the scene coverage of last semesters space shuttle launch, and live coverage of President McPhee's town hall meetings. This semester two class project basketball game coverages will be on ESPN 360 and state wide distribution of a gubernatorial forum held on campus in April. This request is to replace three 1991 camera systems to continue to move the MPL into the digital age. This upgrade will impact students in Mass Comm (about 3000) and thousands more across the university and the Middle Tennessee community.
