The Department of Disabled Student Services (DSS) and Adaptive Technology Center (ATC) offer undergraduate and graduate students with disabilities, which are registered with DSS, access to assistive/adaptive computers and devices that support both student and faculty needs in achieving an accessible and equitable academic experience. Also, the ATC offers short-term adaptive technology loans to students or faculty/departments that are working with students with disabilities. The sizable DSS student population offers many challenges in providing equitable access at the same academic and instructional level that the overall student body enjoys daily. To meet these challenges, DSS requests funding to acquire new and upgrade current solutions for equitable accessibility at our university. For clarity, I have provided a list of definitions or abbreviations used in this request as follows: UAW = Universally Accessible Workstation, LD = Learning Disabilities, PD = Physical Disabilities, VD = Visual Disabilities, HD = Hearing Disabilities, * = Essential for operations and ** = Solution for current obstacles to equitable access.
