The KOM University computer lab complex serves thousands of students each semester, including at least 1000 by remote access. An old printer needs to be replaced. We need to upgrade the Geometer's sketchpad software used by the Math department to the newest version. This software is used by hundreds of students taking basic Math classes. We are requesting two powerful servers and a storage array network device (SAN) to use as the base hardware for virtual machines. With these 2 devices we plan to replace 7 rack mounted servers which are now out of warranty, plus 7 stand alone PCs which are running as small servers. 2 of the out of warranty servers we wish to replace run terminal services (remote access to Windows). Lab rooms KOM350 and KOM267 serve as demonstration labs. Neither room has sound capability from the instructor PC. We are requesting a pair of self powered speakers for each room to be wall mounted at the front of the room. A power outlet will need to be installed for each speaker.
