Future educators need an environment that supports technology integration across the curriculum and improves cross-curriculum coordination. The Elementary and Special Education Department would like to purchase accessible software and hardware that would encompass improvements within the following academic areas: literacy, math, assessment, science, and social studies. Adapted and specially designed software and hardware contribute enormously to effective instruction of students with disabilities. The proposed software and hardware will be installed in our master assistive technology classrooms within our new education building. Students will have opportunities to explore and work independently while creating educational supplements of various types and subjects found within elementary classrooms. The faculty and students will utilize the assistive technology software and hardware to ensure that future educators are creating an equitable educational setting inclusive of all K-12 students. Working with children with multiple disabilities and preparing them to move into a technologically demanding society after high school requires our students to have experience and knowledge of current and progressive technological trends. Education is a vital part of our country’s future via our children and all children are entitled to an accessible, appropriate education no matter their physical or mental limitations.
