The Adaptive Technology Center (ATC) offers access to assistive/adaptive technology that support the university’s legal requirements to provide an accessible and equitable academic experience for all. Through our functions as an open computer lab, on-going services to students registered with Disabled Student services, collaboration with faculty/departments who are serving students with disabilities, and our short term equipment loans, the ATC serves more than 1000 students annually. This includes 686 students (623 undergraduate and 63 graduate), who are registered with DSS, diverse learners, nontraditional students, English as a second language learners, and students studying disability related fields. The ATC supports 25 computers including nine in the ATC and 16 others placed in open labs across campus. This proposal includes upgrades for JAWS and TextHelp software. Lime Lighter is a music stand controlled via foot petal, which will enlarge music and eliminate the need for page turning by visually impaired students. Thermo Pen II will allow us to create more detailed tactile graphics for math and other subjects. WIFI cards are requested for the PacMate braille note taker previously purchased. Two replacement scanners and one additional scanner are needed for book scanning which allows access to books in alternative formats.
