The Center for Educational Media (formerly the Instructional Technology Support Center) manages the University Lab at the LRC. The LRC lab provides students with access to 115 Windows and Macintosh computers in two labs (LRC 101 and 101B) and a graduate multimedia center (LRC 101S) 72 hours per week. In 2011, student visits to our computer facilities totaled 53,542, including walk-in visits and visits associated with technology classes and special sessions. Undergraduates constituted the majority of walk-in visits. 720 students from 30 sections of 24 unique courses (30% graduate, 70% undergraduate) in 5 colleges attended regular classes or technology sessions in LRC 101A or 101B. We install standard and discipline-specific software to serve students in departments across campus, including expensive, high-demand titles such as SPSS, SAS, and Adobe Creative Suite. We work closely with faculty in Mass Communication, Liberal Arts, Behavioral and Health Sciences, and other colleges to insure that software titles and versions meet their instructional needs. We have moved the University lab temporarily to Walker Library 262 during the LRC renovation. We will return to the LRC January 1, 2013. The software licenses we did not bring with us to our smaller temporary location are being used in the COE building classrooms until we return to the LRC. We request funding for new software, software renewals and software upgrades for our 115 student workstations during 2012-2013.
