The KOM University computer lab complex serves thousands of students each semester, including at least 1000 by remote access. We need to upgrade the Scientific Notebook software used by the Math department to the newest version. This software is used by hundreds of students taking basic Math classes. We are requesting one powerful server to use as the base hardware for virtual machines. With this machine we plan to replace 2 of our older servers running remote desktop type services for Linux as well as some other small servers. We are also requesting storage expansion for our SAN and one small server to replace an older server which is running services not appropriate for virtual machines. Lab room KOM360 serves as a demonstration lab. We wish to replace the small standard LCD monitors with larger modern widescreen monitors. The wider monitors will provide students a much better desktop environment for the types of work generally done in that lab. We need one new network switch for our server racks to replace an older one which has failed. We are also asking for some tools we need to properly do our internal networking and server rack work.
