Project Description
The current project I am working on is developing conventions of style that correspond to game narratives. Although I am currently working with epic conventions, I believe that game narratives are also reproducing and recapitulating other narrative genres, such as tragedy.Why does this topic interest you?
Games are the newest in a long line of narrative forms. Although games have not yet received academic recognition, I believe that they deserve to be researched just as intensely as film, drama, and other narrative mediums.What are your professional aspirations?
My professional aspirations are to complete a Ph.D. in philosophy and to teach at the collegiate level.Do you have any advice for future researchers?
Do not be nervous about having unique ideas. Just because your interests might fall out of traditional ideas of "research" within your field does not make them any less valid. The only way for a field to move forward is for it to recognize that boundaries are meant to be pushed and that norms are meant to be broken.
