Current Focus: Integrative Analysis of Huntington’s Pathophysiology: Genetic Interactions and Molecular Profiling in Drosophila
Project Description
Huntington disease is not solely attributable to mutations in Huntingtin, number additional genetic factors contribute to HD pathology. The results from genetic screening can help to identify novel therapeutic targets for treatments of Huntington Disease. I also get to study genetic interactions, muscle physiology, and behavior of Drosophila Melanogaster. Why does this topic interest you?
This interests me because I was interested working neurobiology, and the idea of studying neurological disease with fruit flies is an opportunity to identify targets that were known in the field before. Knowing that I’m a future medical provider, it’s important for me to expand my horizons and learn about different diseases. What are your professional aspirations?
I’m planning to attend dental school in hopes of becoming a family dentist and opening and a private clinic.Do you have any advice for future researchers?
YOU WILL MAKE MISTAKES AND THAT’S OKAY! Don’t be scared to ask for help and always take risks because you will learn more about the research field and find something new you are passionate about.
