Teaching creates a set of connections and relationships that are indispensable for learning. The mechanics and logistics of online instruction can obscure the necessity of those connections, giving us the false impression that the act of online teaching is simply one of providing content and accessing learning on pre-defined projects and outcomes. Yet, relationships matter, and are at the core of deep learning. This workshop will consider various ways that relationships can be developed in online courses in order to increase the quality of the students’ experience and their learning.
