Understanding by Design: Backward Course Design for the College Classroom
Summer 2020
More Details
How can course objectives, assessments, instruction, and learning be enhanced in college courses? One approach is to redesign your class from a “backward perspective” so that student understanding occurs, literally, by design. This workshop will present a case for redesigning your class from a backward design perspective, where faculty identify objectives, design assessments, and plan learning experiences. Participants will utilize essential steps using Wiggins and McTighe's Understanding by Design framework as a guide to reconfigure their own courses to improve student success.
