More Details

Sponsored by MT Engage and open to all faculty, this workshop emphasizes the value of reflection to support student learning. Instructors have much to cover in a semester, particularly when navigating the demands of teaching in a virtual context, and you may be concerned that devoting time to reflection will detract from your students’ mastery of course material (or add to your already heavy workload). The presenters suggest that when positioned as an ongoing, foundational aspect of a course, reflection promotes student engagement with course content, helping students develop more sophisticated understandings of the subject and its relevance for their lives. Attendees can expect to:

  • Consider the role reflection plays in learning
  • See a variety of sample reflection prompts
  • Hear recommendations for how to teach reflection in remote or online courses
  • Learn about tools that support virtual reflections
  • Adapt sample prompts for use in their own course/subject.
