Research shows us that dismissiveness, invisibility, and subjugation of students of color, women of all races and ethnicities, LGBTQ+ community, and students with disabilities is pervasive in higher education. It leads to micro-aggressions stress. One powerful way to resolve this conflict is to identify and maximize our micro-affirmative behaviors. When applied in the workplace, micro-affirmations foster inclusion and support for people who may feel unwelcome or invisible. The goals of this workshop are to inspire reflection that will lead to action at some level for each participant and to identify and maximize your micro-affirmative behaviors as an antidote to implicit bias and microaggressions.
