More Details

Research shows that adopting culturally responsive teaching strategies leads to better academic outcomes for culturally and linguistically diverse learners. As increasing numbers of diverse learners pursue higher education, we (university faculty, administrators, and staff) must strive to create culturally inclusive educational experiences in and out of the classroom. At a minimum, we must be aware of our own culture and how it influences our teaching and interactions with students. In addition, we must understand the academic needs of this diverse group of students, and we must appreciate the pedagogical potential of cultural responsiveness. This workshop will present case studies and suggest strategies for establishing an inclusive learning environment in light of the cultural and linguistic diversity of our student body.

Note: Please watch the following case studies prior to the workshop. You will be joining a breakout session to discuss the case study of your choice.
