More Details

Discussions about AI, authorship, and authority have never been more important. Discovering that a student has plagiarized a writing assignment can be demoralizing for both the faculty member and the student. However, there are steps that faculty can take to prevent plagiarism and center ethical writing practices. In this interactive workshop, we will identify best practices designed to decrease plagiarism in the age of AI, such as updating writing assignments and developing in-class discussions and activities on ethical citation practices. We will also detail effective pedagogical uses of plagiarism detection software that not only help the student but also mitigate anxiety about accidental plagiarism.
