Designing Assessments: Stage 2 of Effective Course Design
Building Classroom Assessments to Ensure Learning for All Students
More Details
Research on assessment practices touts the use of formative assessment for its ability to raise student performance (Black & Wiliam, 1998; Fullan, 2005; Hattie, 2015; Marzano, 2006; Popham, 2013), especially for low-achieving students (Stiggins, 2004). By assessing students during the learning process, teachers are better equipped to make instructional adjustments to meet the students’ current needs. This workshop will involve participants in the process of mapping out learning progressions and developing appropriate formative assessments.
