FAQ's (Frequently Asked Questions) & General Information

Do I have to have experience or be at a certain fitness level to attend the classes?
Absolutely not! We welcome all experience levels and abilities into our classes and assure everyone can get a workout that matches their fitness level. That being said, some classes will provide more challange and intensity (like Cycle), but all our instructors provide several options to either increase or decrease the intensity as you need. We promote non-judgemental environments and always encourage you to work at your own pace and intensity to assure you get a great workout and reduce risk for injury.
We do ask that if you have a special request or know of a modification needed that you let the instructor know when you get to the class. This will help them help you!

When does registration open?
Registration opens 48-hours on the dot before class start time. For example, a Wednesday class at 6:15pm will open for registration on the prior Monday at 6:15pm. You must register for each class you want to attend every week.

What do I do if I am having trouble with registration?
If it's within business hours (Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm), you can email fitness@mtsu.edu for assistance. If you do not get a response in time or it's outside of business hours, you're welcome to drop-in to any class and ask the instructor to help you register (but be advised some classes have limited spaces).

Do I still have a chance to attend if the class is full?
Possibly! You can show up to the class to see if someone cancels last minute or no-shows. Any un-reserved spots are first-come, first-serve. Any spots not filled by the start of class time (even if reserved) are open to drop-ins.

Do I need to bring anything?
We will provide all the equipment and only ask that you bring water (in a sealed container)! You are welcome to bring your own yoga or exercise mat is you'd prefer. Please set aside your phone and silence any notifications for safety reasons and to take the time to disconnect and focus on yourself - it's a great opportunity to step away from technology and unplug for a little bit!

Why can't I join the class late?
We know it can be disappointing when you are late and can't join in the class. But we assure you, there are important reasons:

  • In order to get the best workout and prevent injuries, a proper warmup led by the instructor is vital before any workout
  • We review the workout and proper form for each exercise at the start of class, which is vital to keep everyone safe and on the same page
  • We want avoid disruptions for the rest of the participants (especially in yoga classes)
  • For classes with equipment adjsutments (like cycle and TRX) the instructor helps everyone get properly adjusted for the class begins and will not be able to stop to help you (which is a safety and liability risk on our end)
  • If you are not on time, a drop-in participant can take your spot so there may not be space for you

Summer 2024 Schedule:

  • Classes run June 3rd-August 1st
  • No classes: June 19th & July 4th (Rec Center also closed)
