Chris Joecken is an educator, filmmaker, writer, and photographer.   As a college educator, Chris enjoys sharing his professional experience and industry knowledge with students. For more than a decade, Chris has taught classes focusing on cinematography, single camera production, editorial, color grading, motion graphics, and storytelling. With each course, Chris hopes to distill complex information in a digestible manner. He also encourages students to ask difficult questions about themselves in relation to the work they aspire to create. Regardless of the subject matter, Chris believes his teaching methodology prompts critical thinking in students as they develop their own creative voices.   As a filmmaker, writer, and photographer, Chris explores facets of the human condition. He believes creative disciplines do not exist within a vacuum - and that great stories build upon older stories - so he familiarizes himself with outside cognates to better inform his own craft. Chris’ creative work has received numerous awards, it has been featured in international film journals, and it has screened at film festivals across the country.   As a working freelancer, Chris has fifteen years of professional experience collaborating on hundreds of projects ranging from broadcast commercials to feature length narrative films. He has worked for a comprehensive list of clients that include Apple TV, PBS, Proctor and Gamble, VisionWorks, Folgers, Tempur-Pedic, Western and Southern, and Illumina.   Chris completed his master’s in fine arts degree with a split focus of documentary filmmaking and photojournalism at Ohio University.
