We welcome applicants from all over the world and from a wide variety of professional paths, including those already working in the field of finance, career changers, and recent graduates. We offer two start dates per year: fall and spring.

Admissions Requirements

Applicants for this program should have a bachelor’s degree in any field, and a cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Application Materials

Completed online application

It takes less than 10 minutes to start an application for our program and your progress is automatically saved, allowing you to take your time and come back to the application when you are ready. Once this initial application has been submitted, you will receive directions on how to enter the graduate portal to be able to submit other materials.

Application fee

There is a $50 application fee online when you submit your application.

GMAT/GRE scores

GRE scores should be sent directly from the testing provider to MTSU:

• GRE Institution Code: 1466
• GMAT: 6ZR-KJ-07

The GMAT/GRE requirement may be eligible to be waived for applicants that meet any of the following conditions:

• An earned bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university with GPA of 3.0 or higher. International transcripts must have an official evaluation by a NACES member.
• An earned bachelor’s degree with a GPA of 2.75–2.99 and five or more years of professional/managerial work experience (resume required for confirmation)
• An earned graduate or professional degree from a regionally accredited college or university

Resume/CV

Your resume should highlight relevant qualifications, skills, educational background, and professional experiences. It will also act as documentation to waive the need for GMAT/GRE scores due to professional experience.

Personal statement

We want to get to know you, your career goals, and how our online M.S. in Finance can help you move forward in your desired field. Your personal statement is your opportunity to list your expertise and accomplishments, and illustrate why you think you’re a good fit for our program.

Official transcripts from previous college work

You will need to provide official transcripts from all colleges or universities you have previously attended. The College of Graduate Studies does not accept unofficial transcripts. To be considered official, a transcript must be sent directly from the applicant’s institution to the College of Graduate Studies at MTSU.

Digital transcripts may be sent to askgrad@mtsu.edu.

You may also be able to order your transcripts electronically through the National Student Clearinghouse or Parchment. These sites will send your transcripts directly and quickly to the College of Graduate Studies.
