Welcome to the Master of Science in Finance (M.S. in Finance) program from Jones College of Business at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU)! We’re excited to have you in the program. To help prepare you for the M.S. in Finance program, please review this page to find the answers to some frequently asked questions including how to register for classes, how to get your BlueID, and which courses you should take and when.

Registration and Online Learning

How do I register for classes?

  • Navigate to PipelineMT
  • Go to the “registration & student records page”and click on “registration.”
  • Click “add your classes”
  • Find the CRN number for your course of interest. Fill in the blank boxes under “add courses worksheet” with that number and press “submit changes.”

What is DegreeWorks?

DegreeWorks is an online tool that provides up-to-date monitoring of your academic progress. This tool shows you what classes you need to take in order to graduate and how close you are to degree completion.

What is Desire2Learn (D2L)?

Desire2Learn (D2L) is MTSU’s learning management system. Each of your courses at MTSU will be hosted on D2L. Your professors will post lectures and communicate with you using D2L, and you’ll have the opportunity to communicate with your peers via discussion boards.

What is a BlueID? How do I obtain one?

The BlueID is your MTSU photo ID, which gives you access to campus services and various in-person amenities. You will need to have one to gain access to the library, computer labs, recreation center, sports events, and more. The cost of the ID is included in your tuition.

What are the degree requirements?

The M.S. in Finance is a cohort-based program that can be completed on a full-time or part-time schedule. Students must complete 33 credit hours to earn their Master of Science in Finance.

  • Our core courses make up 24 credit hours
  • The remaining 9 credit hours can be filled with your choice of approved electives
    • Our revolving elective courses are updated and rotated each semester. Students have the opportunity to choose from approved electives with the help of their academic advisor each semester.
