Please select a major to access the upper division/advising forms.  When filing for graduation, an Intent to Graduate form MUST be submitted two to three semesters prior to the intended graduation date.  All graduation paperwork for the College of Basic and Applied Sciences should be turned in to your advisor or Davis Science Building, room 120.

Aerospace

Established in 1942, the Aerospace Department is now a signature department at MTSU and has grown into one of the most respected Aerospace programs in the nation.   Each of the concentrations prepares the graduate for a career in a specific area of the Aerospace industry.

Agriculture, School of (includes Fermentation Science)

The School of Agriculture provides many diverse learning opportunities, including understanding agricultural business operations, agricultural production, and the science and technology of agricultural production and processing.

Biology (includes Forensic Science)

Students in the Biology Department can pursue a Bachelor of Science in one of four concentrations: Genetics and Biotechnology; Organismal Biology and Ecology; Microbiology; or Physiology. Students seeking a license to teach in secondary schools (grades 7-12) should complete the MTeach program which encompasses the Biology degree, a minor in Secondary Education, and additional teacher licensure requirements.

The Bachelor of Science in Forensic Science is a joint offering by the departments of Biology, Chemistry, and Criminal Justice Administration. The program offers preparation for advanced study in forensic science or employment in public crime laboratories, specialized private laboratories, and law enforcement agencies. It also helps students understand the role of the forensic scientist in the criminal justice systems, preparing them to present oral and written findings to the court.

Chemistry (includes Allied Health Science/Technology, Biochemistry, General Science)

The Department of Chemistry provides students a strong background in the traditional areas of chemistry: analytical, biochemistry, organic, inorganic, and physical, as well as opportunities in computational, materials/polymer, medicinal, and environmental chemistry. Students are prepared for careers in government labs, industry, teaching, graduate study, and health professions. Bachelor of Science degrees are offered in Chemistry (with concentrations in ACS Certified and Teacher Licensure), Biochemistry, and Science (with concentrations in Allied Health Technology, Allied Health Science, General Science, General Science Teacher Licensure, and the Medical School Early Acceptance Program).

Computer Science (includes Data Science)

The Computer Science Department produces graduates with strong problem-solving, communication and team skills who are able to design, implement and document computer software systems.  Students are well prepared for the job market and have historically been valued by area employers.

Concrete and Construction Management, School of

Degrees in Concrete Industry Management and Construction Management with various concentrations focus education in areas that most interests the student, their skills, and future career goals.

Engineering Technology (includes Mechatronics Engineering)

Engineering Technology is meant to prepare students for a broad range of technical and industrial management positions.  Several programs require heavy interaction with the industrial sector, which allows students to work on projects with potential employers. Experiential learning opportunities exist through cooperative and internship classes.  Students may study an array of the latest breakthroughs in topic areas such as rapid prototyping of electrical and mechanical systems, safety, and engineering systems.

Geosciences (includes Environmental Science)

Students interested in careers related to any aspect of the many interactions between humans and the natural environment should consider a major in Geosciences.  Geoscientists are some of the most highly sought after science professionals in the world. The global demand for geoscientists in areas such as environmental science, geographic information systems, and petroleum exploration far exceeds the current supply.

Mathematical Sciences (includes Actuarial Science)

With a major in Mathematics, a student will have the keys to open doors of employment or further study in many areas, including science, statistics, business, finance, insurance, health, education, and the technologies of tomorrow.

Physics and Astronomy

A degree from the Department of Physics and Astronomy is the perfect beginning point for careers in science, teaching, and engineering.  Graduates have obtained jobs in medical physics, space science, college teaching, engineering, computer systems design and stock market analysis.
