Interviewology Partnership
Determined to improve the process for both hiring managers and job seekers, Anna decided to research how we interview and set out to create a guide backed in science. The results of her findings are shared in her new book Interviewology: The New Science of Interviewing (HarperCollins Business, January 30, 2024).
The Center partners with Anna Papalia and Interviewology. Anna believes (and so do we) that Job interviews determine the future of individuals and companies, so why don’t we have a common language to discuss and understand them?
Because 90% of hiring managers aren't trained on how to interview, they fall prey to their implicit bias when judging candidates and making hiring decisions. Job seekers, equally as mystified by the process, follow stale advice, memorizing rote answers that aren't true to who they are.
Having taught over 10,000 clients how to improve their interview skills and conducted years of research to see what truly works in an interview, Papalia discovered a solution: a standardized language that helps those on both sides of the table to name and understand their unique interviewing tendencies. Each of us fall into four different interview styles:
- Charmers who think, “I want to be liked”
- Challengers who think, “I want to be me”
- Examiners who think, “I want to get it right”
- Harmonizers who think, “I want to adapt”
Each student who enters the program gets an invitation to the Interviewology assessment and report to become more self aware of their interview style.
