Melissa Taylor teaches Songwriting Instrumentation - Piano in the Department of Recording Industry at Middle Tennessee State University. Her unique piano class offers a breakthrough in music education by instructing students using a playing-based method that is remarkably relevant to songwriters and commercial music.

After graduating with honors from Interlochen Arts Academy, where she was selected for the school’s prominent Concert Piano Tour, Melissa earned a Bachelors of Music with honors from The University of Miami, Coral Gables, FL. Awarded a Merit Scholarship to attend the University, Melissa’s education emphasized piano performance, composition and music business.

Composition and the music business brought Melissa to Nashville, TN in 1995. After 15 years developing, promoting and marketing hit songwriters at Reba McEntire's Starstruck Writer's Group, Alabama's Maypop Music Group, Paul Overstreet's Scarlet Moon Music and Harlan Howard Songs,  Melissa is now a full-time music educator.
