Institutional Data

Institutional data used in the Student Enrollment, Student Retention, Graduation Rates, Degrees, Course Enrollment, Course DFWN, Faculty & Staff, and Admissions dashboards comes from Banner tables. Data is updated following every census and end-of-term.

MTSU Graduate Wages Data

The data for MTSU graduate wages are from Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development (TDLWD) via the Tennessee Higher Education Commission (THEC). It includes the average post-graduation wages for MTSU graduates in academic years 2011-2012 through 2016-2017. The analysis captures graduates who are found in TDLWD’s UI data in all four quarters/year following completion of a degree. Below are the details of the analysis:

• An academic year runs fall – spring – summer.
• For major, only the first 2 digits of the THEC CIP codes are used.
• For each academic year, the highest degree level/most recent semester award a student received within that academic year is reported.
• Wages are reported as the average yearly total for the count of graduates. The yearly wage starts the first full quarter after graduation and goes for 1, 2, and 3 years out, if available. This analysis is limited to graduates who were employed in all four quarters after receipt of their degree.
• The quarterly wage is added with the other quarters that make up the total yearly wage.  Fall graduates use quarters 1-4 of the following calendar year. Spring graduates use quarters 3 and 4 of the current year and quarters 1, 2 of the next calendar year. Summer graduates start in quarter 4 and then continue with 1, 2, and 3.
• The yearly wages exclude any students that were enrolled in college during the year of wage data. 

Industry Forecasts and Wages

Tennessee Department of Labor Workforce and Development (https://www.jobs4tn.gov) and U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Employment Projections (https://www.bls.gov/ooh) are the sources for the industry forecasts and wages data.

Transfer and Graduation from Other Institutions

Transfer out and graduate data from other institutions comes from the National Student Clearinghouse (https://studentclearinghouse.org/).

High School Pipeline & College-Going Rates

The high school pipeline is provided by the Tennessee Department of Education (https://www.tn.gov/content/tn/education/data/data-downloads.html). The membership files provide enrollment information as of October 1 of the applicable school year. Enrollment information is available at the school level and is disaggregated by grade level, gender, and race/ethnicity.

The college-going rate data comes from the THEC Fact Book (https://www.tn.gov/content/tn/thec/research/redirect-research/fact-book.html). Below are the details for this dataset:

• High school students who were part of the high school freshman cohort and graduated during the winter, spring, or summer preceding the summer or fall they enrolled in higher education are captured (using the TLDS). For example, a student who was part of the freshman cohort in the 2011-12 school year who graduated during the winter of 2014, spring of 2015, or summer of 2015, and enrolled in any college in the summer or fall of 2015 is included.
• The college-going rate is based on the in-state and out-of-state, two-year and four-year, public and private enrollment matches found within National Student Clearinghouse. TCAT enrollment matches use the THEC SIS. High school students were enrolled at any higher education institution (community college, university, in-state, out-of-state, public, or private).
• Only public high school graduates are included in college going calculations.
