A Process Followed by Multiple Staff Members

Chris and Robert both made use of the opportunity afforded to them through the URECA program. They led experiments that were held within the PLSO Greenhouse on campus related to aerated irrigation and soil respiration. URECA projects provide students with the unique advantage of accessing advanced scientific equipment, enriching their research endeavors. Through the guidance of their mentors, students can leverage these state-of-the-art tools to elevate their investigative pursuits.

"Being awarded not one, but two URECA grants as an undergraduate was a transformative milestone in my academic journey. Beyond just funding, it was a masterclass in grant writing, budget management, and upholding rigorous scientific standards. My mentors weren't just distant figures; they became collaborators and guides, allowing me to immerse deeply into the research. But perhaps the most invaluable outcome was the bond I forged with the faculty. That very connection paved the way for my next academic venture, with my mentor welcoming me as a Graduate Assistant in a Master's program. To any student contemplating this opportunity: the URECA experience isn't just about research; it's about growth, connection, and unlocking doors you never knew existed." — Robert Conner
