Dr. Mary Kaye G. Anderson joined MTSU Counseling Services in 2009 as a staff psychologist.  She served as Associate Director from 2010 – 2017, was appointed interim director during the 2017-18 academic year, and stepped into the permanent role of director in 2018.  Dr. Anderson is originally from Michigan where she earned her undergraduate degree at Michigan State University.  She holds a master’s degree in Organizational Communication from Wayne State University and a doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology. 

Dr. Anderson has been a licensed psychologist in the state of Tennessee since 2008 and has fifteen years’ professional experience working in school, community mental health, and university settings. Of all the different clinical settings Dr. Anderson has experienced in her career, working in higher education with college students is by far her favorite and most fulfilling.  Dr. Anderson incorporates her clinical insights and years’ experience providing direct mental health services into her administrative role as director of MTSU Counseling Services.  She is committed to providing students’ access to quality care. 

Dr. Anderson loves basketball, running, spending time with family and friends, and chocolate ice cream.
